JAMMU: The twin districts located in the Pir Panjal range Rajouri and Poonch today witnessed various activities enshrined in the ambitious ‘Back to Village’ programme on its second day of implementation.
In Rajouri, the second day of the programme was marked with holding of Gram Sabhas, public interactions, inspections, awareness programmes.
During the Gram Sabha, attended by locals including women and frontline workers of different departments, the people projected the issue of water scarcity besides demanding conservation of ancient water bodies of the areas.
The officers visited the exhibition and fairs organised by the different departments for creating awareness among the people about the government schemes. They took stock of sanitary condition in the panchayats, besides creating awareness on Swachh Bharat Mission.
The officers reviewed the working of village level committees, village health sanitation and nutrition committees, village level child protection committees, school education committees. They also enquired about the status of social audit of all development schemes implemented in the Panchayats.
They also took a detailed stock of public delivery system and government schemes like PM Kisan and PM Sharam Yogi Mandhan Scheme.
In Poonch, the day witnessed holding of Gram Sabhas in all the Panchayats with brainstorming interactions and deliberations, awareness on government schemes besides assessing public grievances and seeking their feedback on the implementation of development works in their areas.
District Development Commissioner visited various panchayats including Takia Shreef, Gulpur, Ajote and Degwaar and assessed the activities being carried out under the programme.
The designated officers also inspected several development works and public utilities. Besides, plantation drives were conducted and cultural programs were organised under Back to Village programme. The Social Audit Committees were also constituted during the programme.
