Srinagar: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Suresh Chugh, Monday took a detailed joint meeting of Forest Department and J&K State Forest Corporation regarding handing over of markings to SFC for the year 2019-20.
Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir Farooq Gillani informed that the yearly markings handed over to SFC have been to the tune of 30.00 lakh Cft. However, during the year 2018-19 volume of 25.31 lakh Cft was handed over as the SFC had to cater to the timber requirement of Forest Sale Depots. He further informed that till date about 31.29 lakh Cft of markings have been handed over to SFC since April 2018 and further about 9 lakh Cfts are in different stages of technical clearance with Conservator of Forests, Working Plan and under process of according administrative approval. In addition to this he said that the joint enumeration has been conducted by the DFOs with their counterparts from SFC for further volume to the extent of 19.74 lakh Cft which shall be available to the SFC during the current year.
The PCCF emphasized for expediting the process of conducting of markings as per the guidelines of Q&Q norms setup by the Supreme Court. He further directed that since there is less marking available in Jammu Region therefore, a target of 50.00 lakh Cft was fixed to be achieved during the current year from Kashmir Region. The DFOs gave compartment wise details of their respective divisions about availability of fallen and dry standing trees that can be handed over to SFC during the coming days. The PCCF directed that all the available markings be handed over to the SFC after following the due procedure within one month so that SFC is able to start the procedure of extraction as this is the time when maximum work can be done.
The meeting was, among others, attended by MD SFC Vasu Yadav, Chief General Managers of SFC, all Conservators of Forests and DFOs of the valley.
