Srinagar: Two persons including a teenage girl died while another sustained injuries on Monday after lightning struck them at different places in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district and Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
An 18-year-old girl died while her brother was injured after lightning struck them at Najan village Sumbal area in Bandipora district on Monday afternoon.
Reports said that a teenage girl was outside her house in Najan village of Sumbal when she was struck by the lightning, resulting in her on spot death. It added that her brother was also injured in this incident who has been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
The deceased was identified as Fatima Bano, 18, daughter of Muhammad Sikander Malla of Najan village of Sumbal. A police officer also confirmed the death of teenage girl. Meanwhile, a middle aged man died due to lightning at Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Reports said that Mohammed Yousuf Mir, son Abdul Aziz Mir of Bakura village of Ganderbal died due to lightning. Reports added that he died on spot after lightning struck him while he was working outside his home in his paddy fields at Bakura village.
Official sources also confirmed his death while as police has started further investigations into the matter. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal has deputed Revenue and police authorities to the location.
