Srinagar: One-way Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) traffic will ply only during night while Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be allowed on both sides during the day on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, which connects Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.
However, HMVs and LMVs will be allowed on historic Mughal road and Leh-Srinagar national highway with some restrictions during the day.
A police official said that LMVs will be allowed both ways on Kashmir highway on Sunday with some restrictions. “Kashmir-bound vehicles will have to cross Nagrota in Jammu between 0700 to 1300 hrs, Jakheni in Udhampur between 0800 to 1400 hrs,” he said, adding Jammu bound vehicle will have to cross Zig in Qazigund between 0700 hrs to 1400 hrs.
He said both way traffic on the 300-km-long highway was allowed following improvement in weather and road conditions. However, he said HMVs will be allowed to ply one-way only during night on the highway.
“On Sunday, HMV traffic movement from Jammu to Srinagar will be allowed. HMVs will be allowed from Jakheni in Udhampur between 1800 hrs to 0400 hrs,” he added.
He said LMVs will be allowed on both side with some restrictions on Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir to Rajouri in Jammu region, between 0500 hrs to 0900 hrs.
However, he said HMVs will be allowed only from one side on Mughal road. “On Sunday, HMVs will be allowed to ply from Srinagar to Jammu and vehicles will have to cross Hirpora between 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs,” he added.
He said vehicles will be allowed to ply from both side on Srinagar-Leh national highway, connecting Ladakh region with rest of the state. “LMVs will be allowed from Minimarg towards Srinagar between 0500 hrs to 0700 hrs and HMVs between 0700 hrs to 1000 hrs,” he said.
Similarly, he said LMVs will be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs and HMVs between 1200 hrs to 1500 hrs.
