On this day muslims show their real joy for the health, strength and opportunities of life which Allah has given to them to fulfill their obligations of fasting and other good deeds during the blessed month of Ramazan . Eid ul fitr is one of the famious islamic festival celebrated in all muslim countries with full gratitude. The word Eid ul fitr liyerally means, “The festival of fast breaking”.It is the festival of love and goodwill. it gives us the message of love and affection and exhorts usto bid goodbye to hatred, jealousy and enmity and bring in an era of love, sympathy and brotherhood.when the month of Ramazan is over and the moon of Eid is sighted muslims end their roza. In this way the muslims break their month long fast. The next day,the festival of Eid is celebrated.
During the holly month of Ramazan Muslims focus on purifying themselves, getting closer to Almighty Allah, and growing in their knowledge/faith. During Ramadan Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. This fasting includes refraining from food, drink, sexual intercourse, bad language, and bad behavior. Muslims generally read an entire chapter of the Qur’an each day (it has 30 chapters) so they read the entire book in one month. It is often compared to being a mini boot-camp in which we arm ourselves with knowledge by reading the Qur’an and fit ourselves physically fit but modifying our diet, increasing our good deeds, and committing more and greater acts of worship. By fasting we become more sympathetic to those less fortunate than ourselves because we feel what it is like to go without food or drink, we feel what it’s like to be without. In turn this should cause us to be more generous and seek to alleviate hunger amongst the poor. It also helps to bring us together with family, friends, and neighbors as we break our fasts together. It brings us closer as a community and to God by offering more worship such as taraweyah prayers (extra prayer services offered nightly in Ramadan). Eid Mubarak is a well-wishing prayer used by Muslims to basically wish friends and family while exchanging greetings. There are five pillars of Islam namely- faith, prayer, charity, making a pilgrimage to Mecca and Ramadan. The fifth pillar, Ramadan, is observed during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is a time for spiritual reflections in which people don’t eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. The common belief behind fasting is that it brings a person closer to the almighty. With the ending of the holy month of Ramadan comes the festival of Eid al-Fitr. Celebrations begin when the moon is sighted after the sunset. There is no fixed date for Eid as the Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycles.
Eid al-Fitr, which is also known as “Breaking of the fast”, lasts for three days. A specific prayer is recited on this day. Many people attend communal prayers and listen to sermons on the first day of the month of Shawwal which is held outside or in large venues. Some communities even organize different kinds of festivities including communal meals on this day. People travel to far places to attend these prayers and festivities. Some wear new clothes and visit relatives’ house, exchange gifts or send cards and messages. Festive meals are prepared to share with friends and family. The day of Eid ul-Fitr is declared as a public holiday in many countries. After such an extensive training session a celebration is only logical. This is where Eid al-Fitr (the Festival/ Holiday of Breaking Fast) comes in. It is a celebration which lasts 3 days and celebrates the successful completion of Ramadan and the newly renewed spiritual cleansing and connection. This particular Eid is also associated with sweets and some call it the Sugar Festival or Sweet Festival. Sweets of various kinds are a common feature of this Eid. There are many different ways in which people celebrate the Eid but in general they all go in the morning to pray the special Eid prayer. On the way there and while waiting for the prayer session to start it is common to recite the Eid Takbir Then after praying people generally have a feast of sorts with their families and or friends. Eidia is recieved from family and friends but generally comes from an adult to child. Gifts between adults are rare and actual gifts from child to adult are almost non-existant. Kids use the money to buy toys and sweets. Ramazan is the month of forgiveness if you exit this month without forgiveness you fail in your endeavour.I need the forgiveness of Allah and so you do also. In order to achieve the forgiveness of Allah soften your heart and be merciful. Don’t underestimate the value of last hours of Ramazan. When the Ramazan ends and the moon is sighted the moment is the time of acceptance of dua. Call out to Allah ask him to grant us beautiful Eid, ask him to accept all the duas, ask him to accept the extra worship .Don’t loose focus on that fact. It is the time we muslims come together shoulder to shoulder, It is the time we muslims share our love and affection ,share our hopes and desires and share our faith and belief on Almighty Allah .Oh Almighty Allah on this blessed day accept our all duas and accept our all ibadat and forgive us all muslims .
