DGP reviews security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar: Director General of Police, J&K Dilbag Singh today reviewed security arrangement for the upcoming Shri Amarnath ji yatra at Kathua after day long visit of far-flung areas of Dudu Basantgrah and Bani Lothang of twin districts of Udhampur and Kathua.
DGP held meetings with the officers of Police and Security forces and had interaction with the jurisdictional police officers and jawans in these areas. DGP also inaugurated recreation hall in DPL Kathua.
Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh who was accompanied by IGP Jammu zone MK Sinha chaired a meeting at Kathua to review the overall security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The meeting was attended by SSP Kathua, Commander 168 Brigade Samba Deputy Commander 4108 RT Brigade CO BSF, CO CRPF, SSP STC Kathua, CO IRP 19 Bn, SSP Rural Traffic Jammu and other senior officers.
During the meeting the DGP emphasized that security and facilitation of Yatris is top priority.
DGP issued directions to all officers of District Kathua and other security agencies to make all possible efforts to further strengthen the security grid along the border and to make the journey comfortable for the yatries.
He said that excellent arrangements for single window clearance, 3-tier security grid, segregation of yatra buses, checking of vehicles and documents should be in proper place.
DGP also said that known vulnerabile areas should be kept under surveillance.He said that border outposts along the international border be strengthened.
DGP also inaugurated the recreation hall for the officers and jawans at District Police Lines Kathua.
Earlier Director General of Police J&K visited the far-flung areas of Dudu Basantgrah and Bani Lothang. During the visit he was accompanied by IGP Jammu MK Sinha, SSP Kathua Shridher Patil and SSP Udhampur Shri Rajeev Pandey.
At Basantgrah the DGP interacted with the jurisdictional officers and jawans.
DGP directed the officers to strengthen the police public relations by interacting with common people on daily basis.
He advised them to take note of the problems faced by the general people and forward their grievances to the concerned departments through proper channel.
While interacting with Jawans and officers the DGP appreciated efforts of police, CAPFs and army for dealing the law and order situation effectively. He commended the role of officers and jawans of J&K Police for working in coordination with other security forces in conducting peaceful Parliamentary elections. He also impressed upon strengthening the VDCs.
During the meeting at Bani with the police officers and jawans DGP reviewed the security scenario of the area. He stressed for more vigil and alertness, DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is known for its bravery and sacrifices throughout the country. He said that we have to keep a complete vigil in our respective areas to thwart the evil designs of anti-national elements. He said that the attempts of anti-social elements were foiled because of the professionalism displayed by the forces.
DGP while interacting with the jawans at Basantgrah and Bani said that welfare of Jawans has remained on top of our agenda and the department. He assured that their genuine grievances with regard to welfare will be looked into sympathetically.
During these interactions he impressed upon the Police to remain in close contact with Panches and Surpanches and take all steps to have people a sense of security.
At Basantgarh large number of local youth also met the DGP and requested him to conduct the special recruitment drive in these areas as was done in the past so that the educated youth get a chance to serve the country.
Respectables and elders also interacted with the DGP.During the visit the SDPOs and SHOs of the areas along with their nafri were present.
