Kupwara: A market checking squad Thursday realised a fine of Rs 10,900 from several erring traders from various markets of sub-division Handwara. The checking was carried out in order to check the prices and quality of essential commodities in the markets.
Besides, a large quantity of polythene bags and rotten food items including fruits and vegetables was seized and destroyed.
The market checking was carried out under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Department Kupwara and included representatives from other line departments including Revenue, Police, Food Safety and Food Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs.
