Div Com(J) calls for eradicating menace of polythene, stresses on promotion of handloom bags

Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Tuesday stressed on widespread use of handloom bags to end the menace of polythene in the state.
On the instructions of Divisional Commissioner, Handloom societies of Jammu division have picked up the making of handloom fabric bags to replace the polythene.
To promote the campaign, the Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma Tuesday distributed handloom bags made by handloom societies at the In & out Store, the First & only Convenience Store of M/s Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited established here at Petrol Pump, Near Bee Enn Charitable Hospital, Talab Tillo.
The Div Com praised the efforts & Dedication of Vijay Saraf, the owner of the In & Out Convenience Store for coming forward and taking this initiative to use handloom bags at his business outlets.
Joint Director Handlooms, Kanta Rukwal briefed that the department is working hard for the promotion and marketing of the handloom products and assisting the weavers of the state to produce finest quality of handloom products at large scale.
Meanwhile, the Div Com asked to work out more designs of bags as various organizations are coming forward to replace the polythene bags.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine Board and Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board have also shown their interest in handloom bags.
Deputy Commissioners of various Districts including DC Jammu Ramesh Kumar, DC Samba, Sushma Chauhan DC Kathua, Vikas Kundal, DC Udhampur Piyush Singla DC Rajouri, Aijaz Ahmed were also present at the distribution. They also expressed their interest in the Promotion and use of these handloom bags in their respective districts to replace the Polythene.
The Div Com hailed the efforts of the Joint Director Handloom, who has pushed and promoted this process in mission mode and is working effortlessly in marketing and publicity of the work of the handloom Societies.
Assistant Director Samba, Sonam Verma was also present there in this event.
