Casual workers becoming political scapegoats

Casual workers and contractual appointees engaged by the previous governments headed by Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti are sure to become the political scapegoats if the governor’s administration does not withdraw the fresh circular which mandates the government to terminate the services of those contractual appointees and casual workers engaged after banned by Omar led NC-Congress coalition government in the year 2010 and Mufti Sayeed led PDP-BJP coalition government in the year 2015 respectively. Since the disengagement of the contractual appointees engaged in violation of ban imposed by Omar government from 2010 onwards and termination of casual workers engaged in violation of ban imposed by Mufti Sayeed government from 2015 onwards would discredit both the National Conference and as well as PDP, the implementation of its fresh order by governor’s administration would trigger fresh controversies and push more youth to the wall. Thousands of contractual appointees and casual workers likely to be hit by the implementation of the governor administration’s fresh order would be forced to hit the streets after the government starts implementing the fresh order.
The street protests against the disengagements could divert the attention of the people from the fight for defending article 370 and article 35 A to fight for averting the attempts of disengaging the contractual appointees and casual workers engaged by popular governments in yesteryears. The controversial decision of the governor’s administration is also an attempt to give BJP and its present proxy Peoples Conference an opportunity to exploit Kashmir’s two largest mainstream political parties National Conference and Peoples’ Democratic Party keeping in view the possibility of the conduct of assembly elections in the coming months. Making contractual appointees and casual workers political scapegoats just to damage the poll prospects of two largest regional political parties National Conference and PDP in the forthcoming assembly elections debunks speaks volumes about intents of the governor’s administration on making both the National Conference and PDP vulnerable to public criticism. Attempts to promote BJP and its proxy Peoples’ Conference in Kashmir by making contractual appointees and casual workers political scapegoats would by all standards of understandabilities draw a flak. Administrative wisdom demand that governor’s administration withdraws the controversial order on contractual appointment and engagement of casual workers in larger public interest.
