Srinagar: Public Health Engineering (PHE) department workers on Monday protested in the summer capital, Srinagar, demanding the release of their pending wages.
Scores of PHE workers assembled in Pratap Park opposite Press Enclave in Srinagar and held a protest against non-payment of their wages.
Holding placards, which read, ‘Release our earned pending wages’, besides other slogans, the protestors, who were shouting slogans in favour of their demands, urged the authorities to immediately release their pending wages so that they can cater to the needs of their families.
“We have not been paid from the last two years and it is becoming very difficult for us to make the ends meet. We have several times approached the concerned authorities, but over demands were not fulfilled,” the protestors said.
They said it is the responsibility of the government to release their wages so that they can fulfill the needs of their families.
