Srinagar/May, 22: Two years militants were on Wednesday killed in a gunfight with government forces in Gopalpora village of Damhal Hanjipora area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, said Police.
Police in a statement issued after the gunfight was over said “on a credible input, a cordon & search operation was launched by police and security forces at Gopalpora of D.H. Pora area in district Kulgam, but during the search operation, the hiding militants fired on the search party triggering a gunfight during which two militants were killed ”
Saying that the bodies of both the slain militants were recovered from the gunfight site Police however said that their identities are yet to be ascertained. The identities and affiliations of the killed terrorists are being ascertained.
Police in its statement asked people not to venture inside the encounter zone.
