Srinagar/May, 18 : The gunfight in Panzgam village of Pulwama district has ended with the killing of one more militant and and with this death toll in the gunfight has risen to three. As reported already two militants were killed early morning today, army said.
An army spokesman said “Op Panzgom (Pulwama). One more militant killed. Total three militants eliminated. Weapons and warlike stores recovered. Operation over”.
Early morning today , police had said that government forces launched a cordon and search operation during night in Panzgam village after receiving information about the presence of militants there.
The hiding militants were challenged after which they opened fire at the government forces, triggering an encounter.
Reports said one of the slain militants has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar, a resident of Panzgam village. He belonged to the Hizb ul Mujahideen (HM) outfit. However, official confirmation is yet to come.
