DC Jammu reviews functioning of Red Cross Society

Jammu: Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar convened a meeting with the District Executive Body of Red Cross Society to review the functioning of the organization.
DC, who is the Executive Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society District Branch Jammu, discussed several issues pertaining to working of the Red Cross Society.
Giving emphasis to cleanliness, the DC asked the members to initiate a sanitation drive in the district and to aware people about the disadvantages of polythene to reduce its usage.
The Chairman stressed upon the need to further intensify membership drive of the society so that maximum people could contribute towards this noble cause of serving the humanity. He also asked them to identify the places at important locations like airport and railway station to install Red Cross Donation Boxes at those places.
Ramesh Kumar also asked the members to organize blood donation camps and drugs de-diction programs to make people, especially youth, aware about harmful and dreaded effects of drugs. He also asked them to prepare a DPR for improvement in infrastructure of Mentally Challenge Home District Disability Rehabilitation Centre.
He also asked the members to identify location at SMGS Hospital and Gandhi Nagar Hospital to open Janaushadhi Centre so that people can get medicines at reasonable and affordable prices.
DC appreciated the working of Child Helpline run by Red Cross and asked the members to organize health check up camps in every school of district which will be supported by district administration. He also asked to appoint ambassadors in each and every government school who will identify the poor and needy children so that organization can provide help to them by offering school uniforms, shoes, pencil and Tiffin boxes etc.
Along with others, District Executive Secretary Ajay Salaan and members Yugal Mahajan, Dinesh Gupta, Vijay Mangotra, OP Gupta, Ashok Khajuria and Mahesh Gupta were present in the meeting.
