Srinagar/ May,17 : A complete shutdown called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani the Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Mirawaiz Molvi Umar Farooq the Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman and Mohammad Yaseen Malik the incarcerated JKLF Chairman against the civilian killing hit normal life on Friday across Kashmir .
Reports said all shops, educational institutions and business establishment remained closed as the passenger traffic went off the roads across Kashmir Law enforcing authorities imposed curfew like restrictions in parts of old Srinagar city and closed down the historic Jamia Masjid as well to thwart any protests in the area.
Heavy contingents of police and paramilitaries were deployed at all the sensitive points to prevent any law and order disturbance in areas prone to street clashes.Reports of a complete shutdown also emanated from other district headquarters as well.
JRL comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had appealed people to observe shutdown to protest the civilian killings Thursday this week. JRL had also urged Imams and khateebs to raise their voice against the bloodshed in Friday sermons.
