Jammu DLSA launches awareness campaign for students

Jammu: District Legal Services Authority, Jammu Thursday launched a campaign to educate the students about Jammu & Kashmir, Protection of Children from Sexual Violence, Act, 2018 JK PCSVO Act and about the importance of Water Conservation.
During the campaign launched on the directions of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority, and under the Chairmanship of Vinod Chatterji Koul, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu, awareness events would be organized in the various schools situated in District Jammu.
The series of the awareness programs on JK PCSVO Act, 2018, was commenced by District Legal Services Authority, Jammu from Presentation Convent Sr. Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The awareness program started with the inaugural address delivered by Secretary, DLSA Jammu, Naushad Ahmed Khan, where he highlighted the aim of the awareness programs is to ensure Safety and Protection of Children in the educational Institutions.
Resource persons, Swati Gupta, Sub Judge, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Samba, and Shalini Sharma, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Jammu, explained the details of the Act, which is enacted to protect children, meaning any one, below the age of 18, from Sexual violence which includes sexual assault, sexual harassment stalking and pornography.
Punishments for using child for pornographic purposes, for storage of pornography material involving child, abetment of an offences and offences against child, Punishment for not reporting offences, for false complaint or false information were also explained to the students. Students were also explained guidelines for how to take Legal assistance of the experts.
There was an interactive session between the resource persons and the students where the students got their queries/doubts cleared on JKPCSVO Act, and Water Conservation from the resource persons.
Besides the students and faculty members, the awareness program was also attended by Anupama Sharma, Protection Officer, Juvenile Justice Board, Counselor Shweta Jain and sister Hema, Principal Convent Sr. Secondary, School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
