Azad demands magisterial probe into Bhaderwah man’s killing, appeals for peace and calm

Srinagar: Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha and General Secretary AICC Ghulam Nabi Azad also a former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on Thursday demanded a magisterial inquiry into the killing a middle aged man allegedly by cow vigilantes in Bhadarwah area late Wednesday night.
In a statement issued after the killing of the civilian Azad said “I have asked the Deputy Commissioner to initiate a magisterial inquiry into the incident”.
He said that those responsible for this gruesome murder must be brought to book immediately and punish the guilty as per the law of the land. He also appealed to all to maintain peace, mutual trust and tranquility.
Calling for peace and communal harmony in Bhaderwah area Azad said “some miscreants will always try to spoil the peaceful atmosphere and communal harmony of the town in particular and the district in general. It is the responsibility of each one of us to ensure peace and maintain communal harmony at every cost”.
Nayeem Ahmad Shah (50) was shot and killed and another injured by alleged vigilantes over allegations of smuggling cows.
Reports said a group of vigilantes intercepted the two Muslims in the outskirts of Bhaderwah town before dawn and shot at them after an altercation. 50-year-old Shahn died while another man was injured.
The killing has triggered widespread protests and outrage in Bhadarwah, forcing the administration to impose curfew in the picturesque town.
