Srinagar: Reacting to BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal Pragya Singh Thakur, calling Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a patriot, former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti said she take pride in being called an anti-national when a Hindu fanatic, who gunned down the father of the national, is hailed as a nationalist.
Meanwhile, former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah asked if the killer of the father of the nation is a patriot does that make Mahatma Gandhi anti-national.
“I take pride in being called an anti national when a Hindu fanatic who gunned down Gandhi ji is hailed as a nationalist. Aisi nationalism aur desh bhakti humaray bas ki naheen. Yeh aapko Mubarak,” Ms Mehbooba, who is the President of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Pragya Thakur, who is prime suspect in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, created a new controversy when she called Godse a patriot.
