Recalling former associates to police stations unethical, undemocratic: JeI

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir expressed its deep condemnation over the behavior of police while recalling released former associates of the party to police stations and forcing them to express their disassociation through newspapers.
Party appealed world community, UNO and human rights bodies both local and international to use their due influence for stopping of state suppressive policies so that this uncertainty will come to an end.
Government of India has imposed ban on Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir on 28th February, 2019 during which its central, district, tehsil level leadership besides hundreds of associates had been arrested and were later detained in many police lock-ups, sub-jails, district jails and torture centers, a spokesman said as per a statement issued on Monday.
Later on many old age and unwell affiliates were got released but at present these people are recalled by the same police stations in one pretext or another. Police officials are forcing them to express their disassociation publically through print media and then present themselves along with the same newspaper cuttings before the police, the statement reads.
Government of India has restricted the activities of the party by alleging some grounds (which are still unproved in courts) should be contested democratically by New-Delhi in courts instead of employing repressive and coercive methods, it added.
Jama’at strongly condemned this attitude of police and other forces while calling former associates and forcing them to express their disassociation publically through print media. Jama’at termed these measures as unethical and undemocratic on part of government forces and impresses upon the world community, UNO and human rights bodies, local and international to use their influence for stopping of barbarity upon helpless and hapless Kashmiris so that repressive policies will come to an end.
