Sumbal/May ,13 : Deputy Inspector General of Police North Kashmir Range Mohammad Sulieman Choudhary on Monday assured a fool proof investigation into the the rape of three-year-old Sumbal girl and urged people to show faith in the police investigation process.
Talking to reporters in Sumbal the DIG North Kashmir said ” the Special Investigation Team (SIT) already constituted by police comprises of senior police officials and prosecuting officers and the evidences are being collected bit by bit to ensure foolproof investigation of the case “, adding that “ I also personally visited Sumbal and SSP Bandipora is also stationed in Sumbal from last few days to ensure a foolproof investigation”.
Saying that from past few days protests were held around the neighbouring areas where the incident happened because there was some doubt regarding the age of the accused after the DOB certificate of the accused was issued by a school principal, Mohammad Sulieman Choudhary said “the certificate issed by the school principal and subsequently shared on social media is not authentic. We have taken a separate cognizance of this and principal of the school and others involved in this are being questioned.”
He said when the incident was reported to police on May 08, the accused was immediately arrested and is in police custody, adding that “I appeal people not to resort to violence.” .
