Srinagar/May, 12: Two militants were on Sunday morning killed in a gunfight in Hend-Sitapur area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Confirming the killing of two militants in the gunfight Police in a statement issued on Sunday said ” on a credible input, a cordon & search operation was launched Sunday morning in Hend-Sitapur area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district,” adding that “during the search operation, the hiding terrorists fired on the search party and the fire was retaliated triggering a gunfight during which two militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. The identities and affiliations of the killed terrorists is being ascertained.”
Claiming that incriminating material including arms & ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter, police in its statement asked people not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials.
