Srinagar/May, 11 : Fresh landslides shut Kashmir highway hours after the traffic was restored on Kashmir’s only surface link with the rest of the country. Thousands of vehicles continue to remain stranded.
Eye witnesses said that the road was re-opened and closed several times at Digdol where landslides had blocked the road since Wednesday evening and consequently, they said, there was a massive traffic jam between Digdol and Ramban.
An official said that over 500 vehicles, including cars and commercial vehicles, were stranded on the vital road since Wednesday evening.
He said that light rains were furthering delaying the full restoration of the highway for the traffic.
