Jammu: Civil Society for Development of Jammu and Kashmir (CSD) chief Puneet Singh Jamwal today said that since annual Darbar has moved to Srinagar, life in Jammu has commented a standstill with most of essential services badly hit. He urged the Governor to ensure that summer secretariat established here monitors all services for the conveniences of general public.
Puneet Singh Jamwal said power supply in most of the localities is badly hit, roads are in dilapidated condition and cleanliness drives too have taken a back seat. Certain developments like road widening and removal of unauthorised parking from Parade like areas though have ensured smooth flow of traffic yet a lot is needed to be done to keep the city clean. The CSD chief urged Governor to direct PWD and NHAI to at least blacktop entire Kunjwani Rotary where craters have caused havoc and Talab Tillo road which is also causing inconvenience to the commuters. Akhnoor road where flyover is being constructed is also dilapidated and the agency executing project needs to provide a clean and good service road so that people don’t face any difficulty.
Puneet Singh Jamwal also urged the state administration to decide about city projects which are hanging in balance. Summers are best time to complete these abandoned projects like approach roads of fourth bridge, cable car projects, Tawi lake, Mubarak Mandi Heritage project, smart city project, river front and several other such projects which are of utmost importance.
He also urged Governor to direct departments like PHE, PDD, JMC, R&B and health to ensure better services when highest seat of power has moved to Srinagar and simultaneously such arrangements should also be made in the Valley when Darbar moves to Jammu. People in entire state need better amenities and not that they move with power.
