Leh: An FIR has been filed against BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Ravinder Raina and another party leader in a ‘bribery’ case and for violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during a press conference on May 2 in Ladakh’s Leh district.
An official said the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Leh, directed the police on Wednesday to lodge an FIR on the alleged attempt by the BJP leaders to bribe scribes.
Besides a complaint lodged with the police by members of the Press Club, Leh, an application on violation of the MCC was also filed by Congress candidate Rigzin Spalbar.
Earlier, District Election Officer Avny Lavasa, in an inquiry report, said: “Perusal and consideration of the material on record reveals prima facie commission of non-cognizable offences punishable under Section 171E and 171F RPC warranting investigation.” The party has denied the allegations.
