Srinagar /May, 7: After leading a protest march of scores of his party workers against the security withdrawal of his party workers, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul on Tuesday said he will surrender his own security till all the BJP workers are provided adequate security by the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
Scores of BJP workers led by the party’s Secretary (Organisation Ashok Koul and protested over the demand for security to BJP workers in the aftermath of the killing of party’s district Vice President Gul Mohammad Mir in Verinag Anantnag last week.
Talking to reporters after the protest Koul said “I will also not take any security till the same is not provided to other political workers as well”,adding ” that a formal letter has also been sent to the Additional Director General of Police Security Wing Kashmir in which they have demanded that till full proof security is not provided to the BJP workers he as general secretary will surrender the security till the demand is not mitigated’.
Kaul also said that he had personally approached SSP Anantnag and SHO Verinag not to withdraw the security of BJP worker Gul Muhammad Mir.
On Saturday, Mir was shot dead by the unidentified gunmen at his residence in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Later, Kaul boarded a three-wheeler without any security and the protesting workers dispersed peacefully.
