Missing Kangan youth arrested along with arms & ammunition, case registered, investigations underway :Police

Srinagar/May, 3 :Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said that missing youth Of Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s was arrested by it in Handwara along with arms and ammunition.

In a statement issued on Friday Jammu and Kashmir Police said “on a credible input, Handwara police along with security forces intercepted a person at a checkpoint near Chowgal and took him into custody. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition were recovered from his possession”,adding that “the arrested person has been identified as Shafat Yousuf Malik son of Mohammad Yousuf Malik resident of Thune, Kangan of District Ganderbal”

Saying that the detained youth was provided arms & ammunition by a militant group and was on way to join the militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, the police in its statement said ” the detained youth has been restrained from joining the terror outfit and a case FIR No. 87/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered at P/S Handwara” . The police statement further said that further investigation into the matter is going on.
