Poonch: Distt Road Safety committee meet held

Poonch: A meeting of District Road Safety meeting was held here under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Rahul Yadav.
The meeting was attended by SSP Ramesh Angral , RTO, DTI, CEO, AEE, MVI, Dy CMO and representative of BRO and threadbare discussion was held on a number of issues related to the Road safety. The meeting laid stress on the need for enforcement of speed limit on major highways, improvement of road marking and signage, besides installation of lights on roads near habitations to reduce accidents.
The committee also suggested to penalize use of mobile phones while driving, making use of road safety equipments mandatory, identification of vulnerable spots, checking of overcrowding in commercial passenger vehicles, phasing out of overage vehicles and connectivity issue for reporting of accidents.
Installation of CCTV cameras, speed cameras, e-challans , Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) was also deliberated during the meeting.
