Shopian/April, 30 : National Conference Vice President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday reiterated his party’s commitment to abrogate draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) with the appeal for a decisive mandate to his party

Addressing an election rally at Circuit House in South Kashmir’s Shopian district Omar said “no mother will have to look for their children in jails if we are voted to power and for it this parliament election would serve as a semi-final.”

He said that this election was being fought for the protection of the special identity of Jammu and Kashmir, adding that “elections are generally contested for the development but this time we are fighting them for safeguarding Article 370 and 35 A.”

He said that people would lose their land and employment if the special status of state was abrogated. Shopian and adjoining Pulwama districts are scheduled to go to polls on May 6.
