Shutdown called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani the Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Mirwaiz molvi Umar Farooq the Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman and Mohammad Yasin Malik the incarcerated JKLF Chairman, against the alleged “ill treatment” to Yasin Malik the JKLF Chairman and offensives of NIA against top separatist leaders and tradersin Kashmir valley , one day weekly ban on movement of civilian traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway and suspension of cross LoC trade hit normal life on Tuesday across Kashmir valley.
Reports said all shops and other commercial establishments remained closed in commercial hub of Lal Chowk and other areas of the Srinagar city. Public transport remained off the roads but private traffic was plying on few routes . The authorities have also suspended train service from Banihal to Baramulla for the day and the mobile internet services have been suspended four South Kashmir districts as Anantnag districts is going to polls in phase one of the three phase parliamentary elections for the Anantnag parliamentary constituency.
