Srinagar/ April,23 : Over 9% polling recorded in Anatnag district in phase I of the three phase polling for Ananatnag parliamentary constituency, said official sources.
Highest turn out was recorded in Kokernag assembly segment where 15.2 per cent polling was recorded till 1 PM and lowest turn out was recorded in Bijbehara assembly segment the home turf of PDP Chief and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti as polling percentage was put at 1.3% in this assembly segment till 1.00 P,M . Anantnag assembly segment from where Mehbooba Mufti the PDP President had won the last elections has recorded just 2.3% polling till 1.00 P.M.Pahalgam witnessed15.0% polling till 1.00 P.M followed by Dooru with 13.7 %, and Shangus with 10.8%. . The main contest in Anantnag parliamentary constituency is between PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti , Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi of Jammu Kashmir National Conference, and Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Indian National Congress. Others in fray are Nisar Ahmad Wani of Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party, Ch. Zaffar Ali of Jammu Kashmir People’s Conference, Sanjay Kumar Dhar of Manav Adhikar Party, Surinder Singh of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) and Imtiyaz Ahmad Rather, Ridwana Sanam, Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, Zubair Masoodi, Shams Khwaja, Ali Mohammad Wani, Gh Mohammad Wani, Kyasir Ahmed Sheikh, Manzoor Ahmad Khan and Mirza Sajad Hussain Beigh, all independents.
Overall poll %age in the District Anantnag was 9.7% upto 1.00 p.m
