Jammu: Police on Tuesday has booked a group of men including a police personnel in cheating case for allegedly luring people for doubling their money in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas said that many people in Manjakote area lodged their complaint before police that some locals from Rajouri have taken their money on the pretext of doubling and are not handing back the same.
The SSP said that SHO Manjakote Manzoor Kohli started investigation during which it was found that a number of people from Manjakote police station jurisdiction have invested their money with some local men of Rajouri with assurance of doubling it.
The entire system was found to be run in violation of norms after which a case was registered, he said, adding, “During investigation a police constable identified as Iftkhar Ahmed, resident of Salwah, Mendhar and posted in Rajouri was also found involved in it who was luring locals to invest their money.”
He said that police constable was arrested while search has been initiated for other person booked in the case.
Mr Manhas has appealed to all the people to examine the registration and other allied features of such firms and private companies involved in investment of money to avoid the loss of their hard earned money and also not to fall prey in the hands of cheats.
