Jammu: In order to reach out to lesser known writers and poets of villages and backward areas, Sahitya Akademi organized a programme series called Gramalok at Jagti here on Friday.
The programme was attended by an impressive gathering representing Kashmiri diaspora. Five budding writers and poets living in different pockets and parts of Jammu Division read their poems and latest write ups before the invited audience. Besides others, the programme was attended by convener Kashmiri Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, Dr. Aziz Hajini who while welcoming the poets, writers and the audience said that Sahitya Akademi organizes such programmes to boost talent at the grassroots level.
Elucidating further Hajini said that providing of platform to the lesser known writers and poets is the main objective of the program. While addressing the gathering Hajini said that such programmes will
be organized in future also. Those who read poems and write ups on the occasion included Jagar Nath
Bhat, Ashok Kumar Dhar, Tej Sagar, Satish Kaul and Bharti Kaul. Besides local members of Kashmiri diaspora, writers and lovers of literature from other parts of the province also participated in the
programme.
