ACB produces Challan against PA to SE, PWD (R&B) Jammu

Jammu: Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu today produced challan (Chargesheet) against Jagdeep Singh S/o Jarnail Singh R/o Sarwal, Jammu, PA to SE in the Office of Chief Engineer PWD(R&B) Jammu, who was caught red handed by the ACB team while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 13000/- from complainant Daler Singh for issuance of a “D” Contractor License.
A complaint was lodged by one S. Daler Singh alongwith S. Raghubans Singh against PA to SE PWD (R&B Jammu) regarding demand of Rs. 20,000/- for issuance of “D” class Contractor Card. In a statement to Valley Media Service, it was stated by the complainant that he had applied for the issuance of the contractor License but the PA to the SE demanded an amount of Rs. 20,000/- for the issuance of the same. However, an amount of Rs. 13,000/- was settled as final amount to be paid to the accused. Thereafter the complainant approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu with a request necessary legal that action against the PA may be taken at the earliest.
On the basis of the complaint, as prima facie case was found made out, a formal case under FIR No. 34/2018 u/s 5(1) (d) r/w Sec. 5(2) P.C Act Svt. 2006 and Sec. 4-A of P.C Act was registered at P/s ACB, Jammu and a trap team of the officers/officials was constituted, which laid a successful trap and apprehended the accused Jagdeep Singh red handed, while demanding and accepting the illegal gratification of Rs. 13,000/- from the complainant in presence of the independent witnesses. The accused was arrested on the spot and further investigation was taken up.
After completing the investigation and seeking sanction for prosecution from the competent authority, the challan/ chargesheet was Tuesday presented before the court of Ld. Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu for legal determination.
