Mehbooba’s cavalcade stoned in Bijbehara area

Ang: A security guard was injured after unknown youth pelted stones on the cavalcade of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti outside the shrine of Khirham here in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Reports said that PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti before addressing the workers convention at Bijbehara visited a shrine at Khirham Sri Gufwara. Witnesses told news agency CNS that as soon as she came outside the shrine, many unknown youth pelted stones on her cavalcade.
Witnesses added that stone-pleters smashed the glasses of a vehicle that was part of cavalcade while an SSG man sustained injuries. Locals told news agency CNS that the security guards of Mehbooba Mufti exercised maximum restraint and didn’t retaliate.
Police swung into action shortly after the incident and chased away the pelters. A police official said that they have registered a case and a hunt has been launched to nab those responsible for the act. (CNS)
