Raped by father, daughter commits suicide in B’pora

Bandipora: In a shocking incident, a girl (Name withheld) Saturday committed suicide after being allegedly raped by her father in Chaliwaan Chattybandi area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Reports said that the girl committed suicide after she was raped by her father at her home. Police after receiving compliant has taken the body to Bandipora Hospital for conducting postmortem and the accused father has been arrested.
A senior police officer while confirming the incident said that they have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and the accused father has been arrested.
A case FIR number 04/2019 under section 506, 376, 306 has been registered in Police Station Aragam against the accused and investigation has been started in the matter. The incident has shocked the entire area with people demanding stern action against the accused.
Meanwhile, many religious leaders have condemned this incident, demanding the person be punished severely, adding that “such heinous persons should not be spared. They should be kept behind the prison bars.”
