Srinagar: The mainstream political party leaders including a PDP candidate for Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, Abdul Qayoom Wani evoked mixed response over the casting of ballots by the people Thursday in the constituency.
Wani said that people want a respected voice to emerge victorious in the polls so that he would fight for the resolution of Kashmir issue in the parliament.
After coming out from polling booth where he casted his vote, he added that people also want elect their representative who would fight to safeguard the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
After exercising the franchise, Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) president and former minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir said that participation of people in elections Thursday was a sign that they (people) want the Governor rule to come to an end.
“People demand that the Governor rule should come to an end that is the reason behind the participation of people in elections Thursday. People want to see a popular government in the State and youth who are coming to vote Thursday want to see a youth friendly government will take over so that their sufferings will come to an end,” Mir said.
National Conference (NC) leader Shabir Mir after casting the vote said that there was a dire need to cast the vote today. “There is a need to cast the vote today as the situation being witnessed in Kashmir today will come to an end,” he said.
