PDP, PC empowered BJP to attack J&K’s special status, alleges Omar

Kupwara: Former Chief Minister and vice-president of National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah on Saturday alleged that it is because of PDP and Peoples Conference (PC), that BJP’s entry was facilitated in Jammu and Kashmir.
As a result, BJP President Amit Shah is now issuing open threats of obliterating state’s special status, he said.
Addressing an election rally at TRC ground here on Saturday, Omar said, “PDP and PC pushed the State towards destruction by providing a platform to RSS-BJP in the State. Today if Amit Shah and Arun Jaitley are explicitly talking against the special constitutional position of our state, who should we hold responsible for it? Who provided them space in our state? Who got them here in our State? It is PDP and PC who are answerable to people for opening flood gates of the state to BJP-RSS.?
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the election rally Omar said “I believe we need to bring back the normalcy in the valley alike it was before 2014,” Omar told reporters on the sidelines of workers convention at TRC Kupwara. He said that there are states across country including Arunachal Pradesh and others where AFSPA was revoked and same should be done in Jammu and Kashmir too.
Omar blamed PDP president Mehbooba Mufti for continuous summons by National Investigation Agency to religious cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, saying that, “it was 2017 when NIA registered an FIR against Mirwaiz Umar Farooq; it’s due to that case, NIA is continuously asking him to present self in Delhi.” “It’s PDP that has worsened the situation in Kashmir and have introduced GST, Foods Security Act,” he said.
He also said that enforcement of GST in the Valley has damaged and eroded the special status of the State, saying the recent record of PDP was very clear to all. “I ask PDP to identify single thing that he has brought from Centre and enforced in Jammu and Kashmir, which has caused any sort of damage or tinkering to special status of valley,” he said.
“Mehbooba can level allegations against me but what matters is that they have to consider the problems and erosion they have caused during their tenure in valley,” he said
