Div Com (J) reviews ‘Assured Minimum Facilities’ at Kathua polling stations

Jammu:  Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma Tuesday conducted an extensive tour of district Kathua to review the Assured Minimum Facilities(AMF) and facilities for  Persons With Disability  (PwD) voters at polling stations ahead of General Elections 2019.

During his visit, the Div Com, as Accessibility Observer for upcoming elections, reviewed the Assured Minimum Facilities at polling stations in Billawar of district Kathua.

He visited a number of polling stations and reviewed the arrangements put in place. He stressed on the maximum participation of persons with disabilities in general elections. He asked the concerned to make all necessary facilities in polling stations for persons with disabilities. He asked for deployment of volunteers to facilitate the PwD voters in polling stations for smooth conduct of elections.

He also asked the concerned to make arrangement of tents at polling stations where waiting shed are not available.

He was accompanied by Director Tourism O P Bhagat, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Billawar, Joginder Singh, ACD Kathua, Sukhpaul Singh and other concerned officers.

During the tour, he visited various polling stations in Billawar constituency and reviewed the arrangements put in place by Districts Administration.

He visited Government Higher Secondary School, Sallan, High School, Dinga Amb, Middle school, Pranjali and others. The concerned officials informed about the number of PwD voters and facilities being put in place for them. He directed to make available all necessary facilitate and renovations of toilets in schools.

Meanwhile, the Div Com chaired a meeting of district officers  and reviewed the plantation drive initiated by horticulture  and Sericulture departments.

The district officers informed about the areas   covered and also shared future plan for plantation.

He directed to develop vermicompose units, ponds and other water bodies under MNREGA in the district. He also asked for development of nurseries.

The meeting was attended by chief Agriculture, Sericulture, Horticulture, ADC, ACD and other concerned.

Later, the Div Com shared the details of AMF at polling stations in the Jammu Division with Chief Electoral Officer J&K through video conferencing.
