Kashmir Varsity Officers Association (KUOA) celebrates annual day at its Srinagar premises

Srinagar: Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir Prof. Talat Ahmad today stressed on the need for various university functionaries to work in tandem towards overall development of the University and to cooperate in taking the university to greater heights of academic excellence. Prof Talat was presiding over annual day event of the Kashmir University Officers Association (KUOA) which was held at the committee room of the Gandhi Bhawan of the University. Prof Talat said that he is fully conscious of the fact that the officers of the university are second to none in the country and that they have all the capabilities which can make them successful administrators of tomorrow in the long run of their career.
He added “In this ever changing world and competitive environment you as officers need to update your skills and accept change with open heart which is going to be very crucial in decision making and arriving at mutual agreements in times to come in the arena of academic administration.”
Prof Talat impressed upon the officers of the University to gear up for the upcoming NAAC visit and said “Everything now will be linked with NAAC grading and a better grade would ensure better funding and development of the university.”
Speaking on the occasion Dean Academic Affairs KU Prof Musadiq Amin Sahaf stressed on the need to work together for the development of the University and said “For the overall benefit of the University our first priority should be promoting the institutional goals even if that comes at the cost of our personal goals and once we are able to imbibe and cultivate that sought of approach in our work ours would be the best university.”
In his remarks Registrar KU DrNisar A Mir said that the key to successful administration in today`s competitive world lies in brining innovation in the routine nature of work and sharing of knowledge and expertise so as to get fast disposal of various issues and problems.
Dr Mir said that the University is the process of developing HR cell in the university so that induction programs for the fresh recruits and non-teaching faculty development programs could be organized which will prove beneficial for honing the skills of new recruits and in service officials in tune with the present day requirements in higher education.
In his address President KUOA Syed Mubarik Ahmad highlighted the issues concerning the officers fraternity and challenges faced by them in their day to day work while underscoring the need of extending CAS to other categories of officers on the analogy of Assistant Registrars and Deputy Registrars, creation of staff development budget and section in the university, providing proper infrastructure and logistic support to the officers in their daily work to ensure speedy disposal of cases and filling up of vacant positions in officer category through direct mode of recruitment which is long overdue.
Deputy Director DIQA and General Secretary KUOA ShowketShafi conducted the proceedings of the annual day and also presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
On the occasion Dean Academic Affairs KU Prof Musadiq Amin Sahaf and Assistant RegistrarKU Mr GM Rather who are superannuating this month were felicitated by the KUOA for their contribution to the corporate life of the University.
The KUOA annual day function was attended by senior officers of KU, office bearers and members of both executive council and general body of KUOA , President KUTA and several other members from non-teaching fraternity.
