Jammu: An awareness program on the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was conducted at the Directorate of Agriculture, Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo here Saturday.
P. S. Rathore, Director Agriculture Jammu launched the Voters Awareness Forum (VAF) in presence of Nodal Officer SVEEP Devinder Singh Manhas and other senior officers of the Department on the occasion.
Nodal Officer SVEEP said the aim of launching Voters Awareness Forums is to create awareness of the electoral process and its importance for strengthening democracy.
It was said VAFs will help in increasing the voter turnout besides encouraging ethical voting among the voters. Various activities were carried out during the program including a hands-on training of EVM and VVPAT by the SVEEP team.
A large number of officers and employees of the Agriculture Complex and Directorate participated in the program.
The program was held on the directions of Election Commission of India and under the guidance of District Election Officer, Jammu Ramesh Kumar.
