No place for political gimmickry in Kashmir

In Jammu & Kashmir state mainstream politicians talks about region and religion only in election times but not the time when legislators and planners sit to discuss yearly or five yearly plans. While generally there is no issue connected to either region or religion in neither Kashmir nor Jammu division, politicians claiming to be the champions of region and religion both in Srinagar and Jammu flare up tendencies of regional and religious divides just to divert the attention of people from their repeated attempts to shield the corrupt and non performing bureaucrats. Though the people of Jammu & Kashmir divisions are known for maintaining the bonds of harmony and sharing normal and peaceful relations even in conflicting times, but the mainstream politicians claiming to be the champions of secularism trigger unwanted debates by raising the demands like “Hindu CM for muslim majority Jammu & Kashmir” and such remarks are made only when the elections are round the corner .Attempts to divide the people on religious or regional lines show how power lust politicians desperately tend to spread communal hatred just for their own petty political interests. Speeches aimed at fanning communal hatred are delivered even if that means giving rise to communal riots. All these cheap gimmicks are resorted to polarize the society and play vote-bank politics. Mainstream politicians desperate to win elections in the name of region and religion should understand that people of Jammu & Kashmir are now fed up with their political gimmickry and they have become politically conscious enough to reject the non performers and put the first timers to test for a term of five years. Anyone resorting to divisive politics either in the name of region or religion is bound to face reverses in the elections. Since the regional and religious harmony of the state reflects love and respect of people for the ages old cultural ethos of Jammu & Kashmir state, So the mainstream politicians tending to divide people either in the name of region and religion in election time should shun the policy of flaring up regional and religious emotions in either Jammu or Kashmir division.
Instead the mainstream politicians contesting elections should raise the issues concerning poverty and political victimization of the people. The sooner the people understand the urges and aspirations of the people of the state, the better it would for political stabilization and economic upliftment of the people of the all the three regions of the state- Jammu, Kashmir and Ladhak .
