Shopia/ March 28 : Three militants were on Thursday killed in a gunfight between the militants and the government forces Yawran area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Police in a statement issued on Thursday while confirming the killing of three militants during cordon and search operation launched on specific information about the presence of militants in the area said that the slain militants have been identified as Sajad Khanday, Aqib Ahmad Dar and Basharat Ahmad Mir, all residents of Pulwama.
Saying that “it was a combined group of proscribed terror outfits HM and LeT”,police in said “they were wanted by law for their complicity in a series of crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities” .
Claiming that incriminating materials including 3 AK rifles were recovered from the site of encounter, police said ‘all these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other militancy related cases.”
Police has asked people not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials and and asked them to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any.”
