Militants release video showing youth admitting he was an informer
Shopian: A 24 year-old youth was killed by militants on Wednesday after he ‘accepted’ that he was working for an Army Major and that he had provided information about the four militants who were killed in an encounter in the district.
The militants released a video soon after the body of youth identified as Tanveer Ahmed Dar of Bemnipora Shopian at Kachdoora villag.
SSP Shopian said that militants killed one civilian Tanvir Ahmed Dar son of Muhammad Abdullah Dar of Bemnipora.”His body was found in Kachdoora village and case has been registered,” he said.
In the 52-second-long video, Tanvir claimed that he was in touch with the Army Major and on his information, four militants were killed. Soon after the incident, a joint team of Army and SOG launched a Cordon-and-Search Operation in the area to nab the assailants. Meanwhile, police in a statement issued here on Wednesday said that militants Wednesday shot dead a civilian at Kachdoora area in District Shopian.
“Identified as Tanveer Ahmad Dar resident of Bemnipora, he was killed by militants and his body has been retrieved from the spot. Body will be handed over to the family after completion of medico-legal formalities,” police said. Police has registered a case and officers are at the spot and continue to work to establish circumstances of this crime.
