Kathua: A marathon drive was launched by RTO Kathua Dr. Raj K. Thapa to ensure strict implementation of Motor Vehicles Act, wherein fine to the tune of Rs. 5.03 lakh was imposed on violators.
During the drive, a total of 217 vehicles were checked, of which 147 were found violating various provisions of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988/ Rules.
A total of 136 vehicles were imposed fine under section 66/192A, two vehicles under section 190 II and rest of vehicles were seized under section 113/194 and 39/192. A passenger bus was also seized for want of documents.
The inspection team ARTO Kuldeep Singh, Motor Vehicle Inspectors Vikas Srivats, Kamal Kumar, Ravinder Kumar and others.
The RTO also informed that as many as 11,500 commercial and non-commercial vehicles including two-wheelers were registered in district Kathua during the calendar year 2018 through the online system of Vahan 4.0.
He further informed that Registration certificates are sent to the vehicle owners through postal services after they get the High-Security Registration Plate fixed on their vehicles.
