Udhampur: A week long sale-cum-exhibition was organized by Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) to showcase products manufactured by the entrepreneurs of the Board at Mini Stadium here Saturday.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar was the chief guest who formally inaugurated the exhibition.
Around 35 stalls of different items produced by the KBIV and its allied departments which include various items like footwear, Dry fruit, Beekeeping were set up in the exhibition.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, KVIB, Jammu Division, Pawan Kumar, Gupta elaborated in detail on the aim of exhibition. He said such exhibitions are frequently being organized by the Board to promote the concept of self-employment among the unemployed youth and artisans of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the efforts made by KVIB for organizing the exhibition. He said such an exhibition would go a long way and become a model of inspiration for the new entrepreneurs and unemployed youth to overcome the fear of risk of enterprises.
He urged the unemployed youth to take maximum benefits of the different income generating schemes of the government to establish their own income generating units for their socio-economic uplift.
Among others, GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma, Chief Executive Officer Municipality, Santosh Kotwal, District Officer KVIB, Tilak Raj and other district officers of KVIB Jammu besides prominent citizens of the Udhampur town were present on the occasion.
