Jammu: Communication and Capacity Development Unit, WSSO, Department of PHE, I&FC Jammu Friday celebrated the World Water Day by organising a seminar here at Institution of Engineers (India), Centre.
The event was organized in collaboration with Swarangan Meditation Charitable Trust (NGO) to highlight the UN theme on World Water Day ‘Leaving no one behind.’
Hundreds of students of Government College for Women Parade and Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar participated in the program.
The aim of the event was to sensitize the participants and allied departments about Water, Sanitation & Hygiene as per the guidelines of National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Program (NRDWP).
Er Vinod Kumar Gupta, Executive Director, CCDU presided over the function, while Er. Ashok Kumar Gandotra, Chief Engineer, PHE Department, Jammu, Er. Ajay Gupta, FIE; Former Chairman IEI, Jammu Centre & Retd Development Commissioner Power were the special invitees.
The speakers called for organizing series of awareness programs on the World Water Day across Urban and Rural areas for spreading awareness among the masses. They highlighted the need for conservation and judicial usage of drinking water and stressed that gross root level awareness is must as every drop counts.
Presentations were also delivered by Health Department, Education Department, CWC Department, Central Ground Water Board Jammu, Command Area Development and ICDS Department.
The program concluded with participants taking pledge to spread ‘Save Water’ campaign.
