RO Ang Parliamentary Constituency reviews election preparedness

Ang: The Returning Officer (RO) of 03 Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency, Khalid Jahangir, Thursday conducted a meeting with Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) to review the preparedness for the upcoming Parliamentary Elections.

The meeting was attended by all the AROs for all the 16 Assembly constituencies of the Anantnag parliamentary constituency, consisting of four district of South Kashmir namely Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian with 16 Assembly Constituencies.

In the meeting, the preparations and arrangements with regard to hassle free conduct of  parliamentary elections including the transportation plan, collection and distribution of poll material, deployment and training of polling staff, randomisation of EVMs and polling staff, complaint redressal mechanism, establishment of Strong Rooms, Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballots System (ETPBS), updating of information on designated portals like C-Vigil and SUVIDHA as per the guiding the ECI, Web Casting, SVEEP awareness activities and establishment of basic minimum facilities at polling stations, were discussed threadbare.

The Returning Officer stressed upon the AROs to stay proactive and prompt in action  and ensure basic minimum facilities including power supply, water supply, toilet facilities and ramps at all the polling stations. He also directed for improving the aesthetic sense of some polling stations as modal polling stations. The RO also directed to ensure the randomisation, and uploading of the EVMS and VVPATs and polling staff before the date of notification. He further directed the AROs to communicate with all political functionaries and media persons for smooth conduct of the elections.

The RO stressed on the strict implementation of MCC and warned stern action against the violators. He directed the AROs to work in coordination with other election functionaries and ensure proper functioning of the various teams including the Flying Squads, Video Surveillance teams and other related for the smooth conduct of the said elections and greater participation of the electorates. The RO reiterated upon keeping a sharp vigil on the kind of publicity carried out by various political parties and individuals as per the guidelines of the ECI.
