New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will seek re-election from Varanasi and BJP Chief Amit Shah will contests for the first time Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency from where saffron party veteran L K Advani is the sitting MP, as the saffron party on Thursday came out with its first list of 182 candidates for the upcoming general polls.
Six sitting MPs have been denied ticket in UP. Union minister Krishna Raj denied ticket in Shahjahanpur, Former UnionMinister Ram Shankar Katheria in Agra, Chaudhary Babulal denied in Fatehpur Sikri. Others denied ticket include Anshul Verma in Hardoi, Anju Bala in Misrikh and Satyapal in Sambhal. The BJP has changed candidates on these seats.
Addressing a press conference, Union Minister JP Nadda further said Home Minister Rajnath Singh will contest from Lucknow and Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari will seek re-election from Nagpur . From Amethi Union Minister Simriti Irani will contest against Congress President Rahul Gandhi who defeated the BJP leader in the 2014 polls by a margin of 1.07 lakh votes.
