Srinagar: Six policemen and two prisoners were injured when the vehicle they were traveling in met with an accident in Mattan area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.
The bus was carrying two accused prisoners from district jail to a local court in neighboring Kulgam district for hearing.
“It, however, turned turtle near the mountains of Kehribal in Mattan,” a police official said.
Among the injured, the two prisoners Tawseef Ahmad of Tangdoo village and Rasik Ahmad of Such Kulgam were referred to district hospital Anantnag for specialized treatment.
The injured policemen were identified as Ghulam Mohdin (Police Station Yaripora), Mushtaq Ahmad (Police Station Yaripora), Farooq Ahmad (Police Station Kulgam) Muhamad Shafeeq (DPL Kulgam), Farooq Ahmad (Police station Qazigund) and Masood Ahmad (DPL Kulgam).
