NC to field Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi from Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency

Srinagar: National Conference on Tuesday announced that Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi would be the party candidate for Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency.
Quoting sources local news gathering agency KNS reported that Parliamentary Board meeting chaired by party President Farooq Abdullah cleared the name of Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi as party candidate from Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency.
Justice Masdodi is a prominent retired judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court known for his landmark judgement on Article 370.
Born on January 2, 1954 at Khrew District Pulwama, Justice Ghulam Hasnain Masoodi did his LL.B from Kashmir University and joined the Bar and practiced as an Advocate from April 22, 1977 to April 1980. Appointed as Munsiff on November 10, 1982 and promoted as Sub-Judge on January 3, 1987, thereafter Masoodi promoted as District & Sessions Judge on March 5, 1998.
During his career as Judge, spreading over a period of about 27 years held important positions in the district judiciary and High Court Registry. Served as Registrar Vigilance, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice , Registrar General of the High Court, Special Judge Anti Corruption, Kashmir and Principal District and Sessions Judge Budgam and Srinagar. Participated in 1998 UN conference on Organized Crime and played a significant role in strengthening the Institution of Lok Adalat and Legal Services in the State. Elevated as Additional Judge of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on 13.11.2009. He was appointed as permanent Judge of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on 26.10.2012. He retired on 1st January 2016 as Justice J&K High Court.
He was presently chairman Jammu and Kashmir Juvenile justice board constituted during the reign of Mehbooba government two years back.
The party has authorized party president Farooq Abdullah to take a call on naming the candidate for Ladhak Lok Sabha constituency,” said a top leader of National Conference.
