DC Ang discusses preparations for annual amaranth yatra

Ang: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir, who is also District Yatra officer, Monday chaired a meeting of concerned officers to discuss the preparations to be made for smooth conduct of the Annual Amarnath Yatra 2019.

The DC directed CEO, PDA, CMO, SE PDD, Hydraulic, Oxen R&B, PHE, PDD, Urban Development, Education, Tourism, Animal husbandry, Labour, ARTO, Dy. Commandant Home Guard & SDRF, Traffic Department to ensure all necessary arrangements with regard to the smooth conduct of  SANJY – 2019.

The CEO, PDA, informed the meeting that tenders have been served for 32 km Yatra track from Chandanwari to Holy Cave for its snow clearance manually, while the PDA will ensure the opening of track, snow clearance repairs of 23 prefabricated huts, 43 pacca huts at halting stations – Chandiwari, Sheshnag, Wovebal, MG Top, Panjtarni and Holy cave.

The PDA will also ensure re-fixing of 10 steel bridges and 15520 meter steel railing at vulnerable spots of the track. The CEO also informed that the sanitation of the track is also done by PDA manually.

Threadbare discussions were held with regard to supply of drinking water, sanitation, communication, dumping of essential commodities, repairs and renovation of road from Aishmuqam to Pahalgam by R&B Department and renovation of vulnerable spots on the road from Pahalgam to Chandanwari by PMGSY, establishment of Disaster Management centres, submission of Action Plan by the concerned Departments and opening of registration centres for riding/ pack ponies at Chandanwari establishment of Medical Aid camps from Base Camp Nunwan to Dardkoot (Poshpathri), availability of life saving drugs, oxygen cylinders & required equipment for medicare facilities of the yatries.

The CEO, PDA also informed the meeting that applications are being received for 2500 tentage accommodation, other service providers like shopkeepers at Base Camp Nunwon, Sheshnag, Panjtarni, Holy Cave and the final selection of the service providers will be made through a draw of lots.

The DC directed the concerned officers and agencies to submit a comprehensive Action Plan with regard to registration of Labours, Ponies, Dandiwallas, availability of medicines, drinking water, power supply, illumination, availability of Gen Sets, construction of shelter sheds, Disaster Management and establishment of Joint Control Room at Pahalgam.

He also directed the concerned departments to submit proposals for the new works to be executed for Yatra 2019 well in advance and to convey the shortfalls, whatsoever be, to his office so that appropriate measures are taken before the commencement of Yatra.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Anantnag, ADC, ACR, SEs of Hydraulic, PDD, R&B, CMO, CEO, PDA, SDM Pahalgam, Xens of PHE, PDD, R&B, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, ARTO, Deputy Commandant Home Guard & SDRF, besides officers of Tourism, and other concerned departments.
